Pajar was founded in Montreal in 1963 by Paul Golbert, a Parisian-born shoemaker who immigrated to Canada in 1956, taking the brand's name from the first letters of his own name and those of his wife and son, Rachel and Jacques. After opening his own factory in Montreal's Plateau district in 1973, Golbert began handcrafting the Heritage boots that remain the brand's signature today — waterproof leather uppers lined with genuine sheepskin, engineered to keep feet warm and dry in temperatures as low as -40°C. Now run by five generations of the Golbert family, Pajar has grown from a single Montreal studio into a global name in cold-weather footwear and outerwear, worn by Olympic volunteers and recognized as one of Canada's official heritage brands. From technical parkas to iconic Zig-Zag shearling boots, every Pajar piece is built on the same principle that has guided the company since day one: genuine Canadian craftsmanship made to handle the harshest winters.
